A Jesuit Ministry Offering Spiritual Retreats to End Homelessness
Five-Fold Purpose of ISP:
We offer retreats to those who are homeless and seeking recovery.
We train formerly homeless men and women to assist in giving retreats.
We reach out to new regions to train teams to offer retreats, days of reflection, and spiritual companioning.
We seek to establish a national network of all involved in addressing the spiritual needs of those who are homeless.
We collaborate with other persons and agencies working to end the injustice of homelessness.
Please read more about us and contact us if you wish to become involved.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
What’s Happening Now at ISP!
A record setting year... From July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2010, ISP held more retreats and
offered the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius in adapted form to more women and men
than in our history. Our unprecedented growth was paved with incredible generosity,
innumerable talents, and fervent prayer. Thank you believing in the vision of ISP and
our mission to end the injustice of homelessness. We look forward to your continued
support and to sharing our success!
Retreatants' Speak... At the end of every retreat we ask our participants to evaluate the
retreat and share their thoughts on how it went. “Anna” from Baltimore writes:
“I want you to know that I felt in love being on this retreat, from different women from all over. I felt
as if I could be open and honest about my life, and could share something personal with the women,
and by doing that it helped me be free of some of this guilt I felt.”
Summertime is a good time... In just a few weeks St. Louis and Houston
will be hosting summer gatherings for their retreatants. St. Louis is sponsoring
a “Transfiguration Day” where the year's success and transformation can be honored.
With ice cream too! Houston is continuing their creative day of reflection and hosts one
on the Feast of St. Ignatius.
Bon Voyage! … In a few weeks we will say farewell to Cathy Reid who ends her Jesuit
Volunteer (JV) year in Chicago and helped enormously in leading the women's team.
You will be missed! Check out her magnum opus, an article which appeared in the most
recent issue of JVC Magazine. In her stead, we're excited to welcome
Lucia Reed, a Loyola University Chicago MAGIS fellow, at the end of August.
Onward... In 2010-2011 we will begin efforts in Akron, OH, Dayton, OH and Detroit,
MI. Please pray for the men and women who will make our retreats and CONTACT US <link to ISP page> if you are interested in joining our ministry.
Excitingly, we are in 15 cities as of July 1st. That means our network has grown 100% in just 3 years. Thanks for your continued support.
ISP is coming to a city near you! Plans are underway for our continued expansion across the country. Interested in being a part of our network? Please click the “Join Us!” link and let us know!
